Christine Dee serves as Professor of History and Graduate History Program Chair in the Department of Economics, History and Political Science at Fitchburg State University's School of Arts and Sciences. She has held her professorship since 2006 and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses across diverse American history specializations.
Her educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in History of American Civilization, Harvard University
- M.A. in History, Harvard University
- A.B., Magna Cum Laude and Fenwick Scholar, College of the Holy Cross (1994)
Professor Dee's research spans American history with emphasis on social, cultural, and regional dimensions. She specializes in U.S. Social History, Women's History, African American History, Civil War History, Colonial and Revolutionary America, New England History, and the History of the American West. Her graduate seminars explore niche areas including Print Culture and the Literary Marketplace, Crime and History, War & American Society, and Historical Landscapes through artifacts.
As Graduate History Program Chair, she oversees curriculum development and student mentoring. Her teaching portfolio demonstrates deep engagement with methodological approaches through Historical Methods courses and specialized topics like Antebellum Reform Movements, Riots and Railroad History, and Massachusetts regional studies.
