Christine Bailey

Christine Bailey is a Professor of English and Director of Composition Support at Union University. She holds a Ph.D. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an M.F.A. from Murray State University, an M.A. from Belmont University, and a B.S. from Tennessee Tech University. Her research focuses on creative writing pedagogy, composition rhetoric, and YA literature. She has published four novels, including Burning Little Lies (2024), and co-authored peer-reviewed articles on creative writing theory. Bailey is editor of the Journal of the Union Faculty Forum, overseeing interdisciplinary academic and creative submissions.

Her recent work emphasizes multimodal approaches to writing instruction and the role of aesthetic artifacts in student identity formation. She has presented at conferences like the Conference on College Composition and Communication and the Association of Writers and Writing Programs. Her teaching spans creative writing, professional writing, and composition courses. Bailey’s career includes prior roles as a journalist, book editor, and marketing writer.

As Director of Composition Support, she oversees writing programs and collaborates with faculty to enhance rhetorical and analytical skills across disciplines. She actively contributes to Union’s mission of integrating Christian faith with academic excellence through her teaching, scholarship, and editorial work.
