Dr. Christina Toschka is a Senior Lecturer at the Chair of Chemistry Education, Ruhr University Bochum. Her work bridges theoretical chemistry and pedagogical innovation, focusing on model experiments and analogical reasoning in science education.
- Education: Doctorate in Chemistry Education (2021), Master of Education (Chemistry, Mathematics) (2015), Bachelor of Arts (Dual Chemistry and Mathematics) (2013).
Her research explores how model experiments enhance perception and reasoning in chemistry education, with projects like CS:iDrop and RESOLV emphasizing hands-on learning. She co-developed the Escape Box for stoichiometric calculations and investigates industry-school collaborations, including life cycle analysis and physical-chemical testing methods.
Key trends in her publications include analogical reasoning, gamification, and interdisciplinary teaching. She actively contributes to the ComeMINT network and the KEMIE project, promoting model experiments in school laboratories.
She has conducted workshops on low-cost devices for explosion hazard assessment and children’s exploration of glue stick chemistry, aligning with her focus on accessible, practical science education.
