Christina Stennett

Christina Stennett is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Maryland. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology and an MPH from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and College Park, respectively, with a B.S. in Community Health from the same institutions. Her research focuses on integrating epidemiologic and biostatistical methods to study the interplay of socioeconomic status and health outcomes in orthopedics, aging, and microbiome research.

Her work emphasizes participant-reported and geocoded neighborhood-level SES variables in diverse populations. She has published on topics such as antibiotic duration in fracture treatment, cardiometabolic clustering in Bangladesh, and vaginal microbiota dynamics in reproductive and menopausal health.

Recent publications highlight her expertise in vaginal microbiota (2024), lubricant impacts on infections (2021), and SES-driven health disparities (2020-2021). She has received the School of Public Health Dean’s Scholar Award (2017) and President’s Student Leadership Institute citations (2021).

Her funded research includes NIH/NIA grants (T32 AG000262, R36 AG072264) on aging and microbiome interactions. She has collaborated on studies involving fracture healing, aging, and microbial ecology.
