Christina Orozco Nevers

Christina Orozco Nevers, Ph.D., ATC is a Lecturer at Iona University and Program Coordinator for the Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness Program. She is affiliated with the Iona School of Health Sciences and has extensive experience in both clinical and academic roles.

Dr. Nevers’ research focuses on interprofessional education (IPE) in allied health professions, athletic training education, and innovative teaching strategies in higher education. Her work integrates health sciences and sports medicine to enhance educational outcomes and clinical practices.

Her recent publications highlight trends in interprofessional education, particularly in allied health professions and rehabilitation frameworks. The 2023 presentations explore collaborative approaches to IPE, while the 2022 work addresses the implementation of the 2020 WHO Rehabilitation Competencies Framework.

Dr. Nevers has served as a clinical preceptor and academic advisor for undergraduate and graduate athletic training students, emphasizing mentorship and hands-on learning. Her contributions to interprofessional initiatives include chairing the Interprofessional Experiences Committee at Iona University and participating in leadership and curriculum development committees.
