Prof. Dr. Christina Morina is a Professor of General History with a focus on contemporary history at Bielefeld University's Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology. She holds affiliations with multiple interdisciplinary institutes including the Center for Uncertainty Studies (CeUS) and the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS). Her research examines German and European history from the 19th century to the present, emphasizing political ideas, postwar societies, memory cultures, and historiography. Current projects explore majority societies in Holocaust contexts, post-1980s German history, and populism's historical roots.
Education includes a PhD from the University of Maryland (2007) and habilitation from Jena University (2017). She has held roles such as DAAD lecturer at the University of Amsterdam (2015-2019) and fellowships at the International Institute for Social History. Editorial roles include co-editing the Historische Zeitschrift and Neue Gesellschaft.
