Christina Goudreau Collison

Christina Goudreau Collison is a Professor in the School of Chemistry and Materials Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). She holds a BA from Colby College and a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester. Her research focuses on Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER), particularly in organic chemistry and lab pedagogy, with a major initiative called the Sign Language Incorporation in Chemistry Education (SLICE) project to enhance accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. She also conducts synthesis projects in organic chemistry. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, including CHEM-301 (Undergraduate Teaching Experience) and organic chemistry lab modules.

Her work has been recognized with awards such as the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Inclusion and Diversity Prize. Her research group emphasizes undergraduate training and has secured grants, including a $380,000 NSF grant in 2023 to expand SLICE. She advises students in organic chemistry and biochemistry, fostering a diverse research environment. Her lab focuses on reformed experimental activities (REActivities) and inclusive STEM education.
