Christina Geisen is a Lecturer and Postdoctoral Research Associate in Egyptology and Bibliography at Yale University's Department of Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations. She holds a PhD in Egyptology from the University of Toronto (Canada) and an MA in Egyptology, Islamic Studies, and Pre- and Early History from the University of Bonn (Germany). Her research focuses on ancient Egyptian funerary and ritual texts, ritual landscapes, onomastics, and the history of the Middle Kingdom and Second Intermediate Period. She teaches courses on Classical Hieroglyphic Egyptian and curates the Egyptian Reading Room at Sterling Memorial Library.
Before joining Yale, she served as a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto, taught at the University of Toronto and Wilfrid Laurier University, and contributed to projects such as the North Abydos Votive Zone Project in Egypt. Her work bridges textual analysis, archaeological fieldwork, and epigraphy.
Geisen has published on topics ranging from stela iconography to the chronology of ancient Egyptian dynasties. Her research also explores the perception of geography and landscape in ancient Egypt, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to understanding cultural and historical contexts.
