معرفی
Christina Cobbold is a Professor of Mathematical Biology at the University of Glasgow, where she has been based since September 2003. She currently holds a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship and is an associate member of the Institute for Biodiversity, Animal Health and Comparative Medicine, as well as a member of the Boyd Orr Centre for Population and Ecosystem Health. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Mathematical Biology from Heriot-Watt University (1998–2001) and a PIMS Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Alberta (2001–2003).
Christina Cobbold's educational background comprises:
- PhD (1998–2001): Mathematical Biology at Heriot-Watt University, supervised by Jonathan Sherratt.
- PIMS Postdoctoral Fellow (2001–2003): University of Alberta under Mark Lewis.
Her research interests focus on mathematical modeling of host-parasite and host-pathogen systems, with an emphasis on how environmental variations—such as temperature changes and spatial heterogeneity—affect these interactions. She applies mathematical frameworks to study disease dynamics, ecological systems, and population health within interdisciplinary contexts.
Christina Cobbold has been recognized with the following award:
- Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship
In advising and grants, she currently oversees a 20-month postdoctoral position (with potential extension) to model African trypanosomiasis infection dynamics. Her Leverhulme Trust Fellowship supports her research, and she actively engages in academic outreach, including a podcast titled “Mathematics Meets Biology.” Her professional affiliations span the School of Mathematics and Statistics and collaborative centers like the Boyd Orr Centre, reflecting her commitment to integrating mathematical approaches with real-world biological challenges.
She is affiliated with:
- Boyd Orr Centre for Population and Ecosystem Health
- Institute for Biodiversity, Animal Health and Comparative Medicine
