Christiane Plank-Baldauf

Christiane Plank-Baldauf serves as Lecturer in Aesthetics and History of Musical Theatre across six European institutions: August Everding Theater Academy (Munich), Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (Institute for Theater Studies), Mozarteum Innsbruck, University of Bayreuth, University of Hildesheim (Institute for Music and Musicology), and Vienna University of the Arts.

Her research centers on music theater for young audiences, music education participation models, the performativity of listening, and music theater history/aesthetics. Since 2022 she leads the DFG-funded project 'Music Theater for Young Audiences - A School of Perception?' examining how theatrical experiences shape children's perceptual development through specialized performance frameworks.

Prior to academia, she gained ten years of professional experience as music dramaturge at theaters across Switzerland and Austria, most recently at Nationaltheater and Junge Oper Mannheim. She maintains active freelance work as guest dramaturge for music theater and concert productions, bridging practical industry experience with scholarly inquiry.
