Christiane Dolecek

Professor Christiane Dolecek serves as Professor of Global Health and Senior Clinical Scientist at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM), where she co-directs the MICROBE group and co-leads the Global Research on Antimicrobial Resistance (GRAM) project. With over 25 years of experience in infectious disease research, she focuses on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), antibiotic consumption, and drug-resistant infections.

Her research interests center on bacterial pathogens including Salmonella Typhi/Paratyphi, E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Staphylococcus aureus. She employs geospatial modeling, clinical trials, and evidence-based medicine approaches to measure AMR burden across 204 countries. Her work bridges clinical practice with global health policy, particularly through WHO collaborations and the Strategic Typhoid Alliance Across Africa and Asia (STRATAA).

Dolecek's publication trends reveal escalating focus on subnational AMR mapping since 2020, with recent work analyzing antibiotic consumption patterns, household overcrowding impacts, and typhoid fever incidence in Africa. Her research consistently targets actionable policy interventions for low-resource settings.
