معرفی
Christiane Clemens is a Professor of Economics, specializing in Macroeconomics, at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Bielefeld University since 2010. She previously held professorial positions at the University of Hamburg (2008-2010), Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (2007-2008), and has served in various academic roles including Acting Chair positions at Magdeburg and Leibniz University Hannover. She has also been a Visiting Professor at the University of Washington and a Visiting Researcher at ETH Zurich.
Her academic background includes a Doctorate in Political Science from Leibniz University Hannover (1998), followed by a Postdoc position in Growth and Distribution (1999-2004), and habilitation with venia legendi for economics (2004). She studied economics and mathematics at Leibniz University Hannover from 1987 to 1992.
Professor Clemens' research focuses on growth and distribution theory, political economy, democratic processes, strategic behavior, macroeconomic risks and uncertainty, externalities, environmental and resource economics, social security as an intra- and intergenerational conflict, and international economics and migration. Her work frequently examines the intersections between risk, uncertainty, and economic growth, with particular attention to how financial constraints, environmental policies, and technological progress affect macroeconomic outcomes.
Her publication record shows a consistent focus on macroeconomic modeling with particular emphasis on risk and uncertainty. Over the past two decades, her research has evolved from foundational work on stochastic growth models to more complex analyses incorporating environmental economics, international finance, and behavioral aspects of economic decision-making. A significant portion of her work examines entrepreneurial risk-taking and its macroeconomic implications, while more recent publications address climate change and technical progress within constrained information environments.
- Member of the Macroeconomic Committee of the Association for Social Policy
- CESIfo Research Network Fellow
Professor Clemens has supervised numerous doctoral students and has been involved in multiple research projects examining macroeconomic phenomena. Her work often involves collaboration with other leading economists, particularly Maik Heinemann, and spans both theoretical modeling and empirical analysis of European economies. She has contributed significantly to understanding the relationship between public debt, fiscal policy, and economic growth, particularly in the context of the Eurozone.
