Christian Wolff is an Assistant Professor of Computational Physics at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). He is affiliated with POLIMA, a research center at SDU, and previously worked at the Center for Nano Optics. His research focuses on photonics, plasmonics, quantum optics, and nonlinear optics, with contributions to topics like photonic crystals, PT-symmetric systems, and lithium niobate-based components. Wolff has co-authored over 40 papers and transitioned to industry at 3dmicrofabrication in 2024 while maintaining ties to SDU.
Education:
- Diploma in Physics (2008), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
- Doctorate in Natural Sciences (2012), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
Research Interests: Christian’s work spans theoretical and applied photonics, including band-structure theory, stimulated Brillouin scattering, quantum plasmonics, and polaritons in 2D materials. His recent publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to optical systems and their practical applications in sensing, switching, and nanotechnology.
Advising & Grants: Supervised 3 PhD students and multiple BSc/MSc theses. Taught courses in Computational Physics and Advanced Math. His research has been supported by VILLUM and MSCA Cofund postdoctoral fellowships.
Labs & Teams: Active in POLIMA and previously at the Center for Nano Optics. Collaborations include the Max-Born-Institute and the University of Technology Sydney.
