Christian Walter

Christian Walter is a Professor at the Institut Agro Rennes-Angers (formerly Agrocampus Ouest) and serves as Director of the UMR SAS (INRAE/Institut Agro joint research unit). He is a Corresponding Member of the French Academy of Agriculture and co-head of the Professional License 'Les Métiers de l’Agroécologie' accredited with the University of Rennes. His responsibilities include academic leadership, research coordination, and strategic oversight of soil science initiatives.

His research focuses on soil spatial analysis, carbon dynamics, and agroecosystem sustainability, with emphasis on quantifying soil ecosystem services and developing climate-smart agricultural practices. Current projects include EJPSOIL (climate-resilient soil management), SERENA (soil function modeling), and EVA_SEQUES (carbon sequestration strategies).
