Christian Strenger

Christian Strenger serves as Honorary Professor and Academic Director of the Centre for Corporate Governance at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, a position awarded in 2014 for his industry contributions. Internationally recognized as Germany's 'Mr. Corporate Governance', he holds key roles including Deputy Chairman of the World Bank IFC's Private Sector Advisory Group and member of the OECD's BIAC Governance Committee in Paris.

His professional background includes an MBA in Finance from Cologne University, followed by executive banking roles at Deutsche Bank across Frankfurt, London, and New York. He served as CEO of DWS Investment (Germany's largest asset manager with ~$800B in assets) and sat on boards of major corporations including Evonik Industries, Fraport, and TUI.

Strenger specializes in corporate governance frameworks, investor representation, and board effectiveness. He co-founded Germany's Government Commission for the Corporate Governance Code in 2001, representing investor interests until 2016, and remains active through the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN) and Germany's DVFA Corporate Governance Commission.

As Academic Director at HHL, he organizes governance symposiums and lectures globally while contributing articles to leading financial publications. His work bridges academic theory and practical implementation in corporate oversight, regularly featuring him as a speaker at international conferences on governance trends.
