Prof. Christian Rohr is a Full Professor of Environmental and Climate History at the University of Bern's Department of Economic, Social and Environmental History, part of the Institute of History. His research focuses on natural disaster management, climate history, resource conflicts, and the reception of the Middle Ages in popular culture. He has authored and edited influential works such as The Commons in a Glocal World (2019) and Historical Auxiliary Sciences (2015). Rohr's work bridges historical methodologies with contemporary environmental challenges, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to understanding human-environment interactions.
Research interests include medieval water use, Alpine tourism's environmental impact, and global-local dynamics in resource governance. His edited volumes explore topics like crisis management in the Middle Ages and commons pool resources. Consultation hours are available regularly and during academic breaks.
