Christian Nadeau is a Full Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts and Science, University of Montreal. His research spans contemporary political philosophy and the history of political ideas from the 15th to 19th centuries, with a focus on neo-republicanism, collective responsibility, transitional justice, and moral philosophy.

Research interests include:
- Contemporary political philosophy: Transitional justice, collective memory, democratic deliberation, and neo-republicanism.
- History of political ideas: Renaissance to 19th-century republican traditions, analyzing Machiavelli, Hobbes, Rousseau, and their influence on modern political thought.
- Applied ethics: Environmental ethics, social justice, and the intersection of capitalism, surveillance, and colonialism.
He leads projects such as Mouvements sociaux, droits sociaux et démocratie (2022-2028) funded by the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and Le pouvoir et la domination en contextes normatif, institutionnel et historique (2023-2027) supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec. His editorial leadership of the journal Philosophiques (2011-2020) and co-direction of the PolitiqueS book series further highlight his contributions.

Over his career, Nadeau has supervised numerous graduate students in topics ranging from political liberation of domesticated animals to racial digital injustices and republican theories of justice.
