Christian Moeller

Christian Moeller is a Professor affiliated with the Department of Design Media Arts at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), part of the School of the Arts and Architecture. Previously, he was a professor at the State College of Design in Karlsruhe, Germany before relocating to the U.S. in 2001. He founded his own studio and media laboratory in Frankfurt in 1990.

His artistic practice focuses on innovative intersections of cinema, computation, music, and physical space, producing works ranging from handheld objects to large-scale architectural installations. Over two decades, his body of work has been recognized as a pioneering exploration of media technology's potential.

Moeller's exhibitions include major institutions such as the Schirn Kunsthalle (Frankfurt), Spiral Art Center (Tokyo), Science Museum (London), and ARS Electronica (Linz). He holds degrees from the College of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

At UCLA, he contributes to initiatives like the UCLA Game Lab and Counterforce Lab, advancing interdisciplinary art and technology research.
