Research integrates experimental biomechanics and computational modeling to investigate orthopedic conditions and treatments. Specializes in 3D-printed tissue engineering (intervertebral discs, TMJ), fracture healing assessment, and implant design. Current projects include electromagnetic coupling for fracture monitoring, cell-free tissue engineering using exosomes, and viscoelastic characterization of spinal tissues.
Awards and Honors:
- American Society of Mechanical Engineers Fellow
- Journal of Biomechanical Engineering Editor's Choice (2014, 2019)
- Monfort Professor
- Whitecloud Basic Science Award
- Kosada Best of Meeting Clinical Research
Patents cover spinal implants and diagnostic technologies. Leads multidisciplinary research teams in orthopaedic biomechanics and mentors graduate students across engineering and clinical disciplines. Collaborations include clinical partners for translational research.
