Christian Linder is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University, with a courtesy appointment in Mechanical Engineering. He leads the Computational Mechanics of Materials (CM2) Lab, focusing on multi-scale and multi-physics mechanisms in solid materials, including fracture, large deformations, and applications in energy storage and flexible electronics. His research employs novel computational methods rooted in mathematical rigor.
Education includes a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley, an MA in Mathematics from UC Berkeley, and degrees from TU Graz and the University of Stuttgart. Notable awards include the PECASE (2019) and NSF CAREER Award (2016).
