Christian Larsen is a Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at Emory University. His research focuses on transplant immunology, infectious complications in transplant recipients, and optimizing immunosuppressive therapies. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford and an M.D. from Emory University. Larsen has received numerous accolades, including the Emory School of Medicine Dean's Distinguished Faculty Lecture Award (2009) and the Thomas E. Starzl Prize (2007).
His work addresses critical challenges in transplantation, such as reducing viral infections (e.g., BKV, CMV) and improving long-term graft survival. Notable contributions include studies on belatacept-based immunosuppression, biomarker-driven tolerance, and post-transplant infection management. Larsen’s research integrates clinical trials, immunogenomics, and functional data analysis to advance personalized care for transplant patients.
