Christian Jones is a Tutor in Bass Trombone at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). As a professional bass/contrabass trombonist, he combines his academic role with extensive performance experience from leading orchestras including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Philharmonia Orchestra, and Opera North.
His teaching focuses on trombone technique, orchestral training, and performance health. Notably, Christian has served as a guest faculty member at international brass festivals like Dublin Brass Week and Arctic Trombone Festival. His recent research into pilates and accent breathing techniques stems from a 2014 brachial neuritis injury sustained during a South American tour.
Outside academia, he promotes trombone through public engagements like his 2013-15 presidency of the British Trombone Society and high-profile media appearances reaching millions of listeners.
