Dr. Christian Heitsch is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Brunel Law School, part of the College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences. He joined Brunel in 2008, bringing extensive experience from private practice and academia in Germany and the US. His research and teaching focus on Public Law, European Union Law, and Environmental Law, with a strong emphasis on human rights and climate policy under frameworks like the Aarhus Convention.
- Research: Analyzes EU environmental and administrative law, Brexit implications, and comparative legal systems (Germany/UK). Member of the Brunel Center for Intelligence and Security Studies (BCISS).
- Teaching: Specializes in Public, EU, and Environmental Law, integrating recent cases and current events into his courses.
- Advocacy: Engaged in legal challenges against nuclear power plant planning in Germany and reactor technology exports to the Czech Republic.
- Qualifications: Associate Professor (Trier, 2007), Habilitation/Venia Legendi (Trier, 2000), Bar Exam (Munich, 1994), LLD (Regensburg, 1992), and FHEA (2011).
