Christian Garaus

Christian Garaus is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Marketing & Innovation, Department of Economics and Social Sciences, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). He has held academic positions at WU Vienna, TU Wien, and other institutions, and is actively involved in research on innovation, sustainability, and consumer behavior.

He has led EU and nationally funded projects on sustainable bioeconomy and climate action.

Academic Service: Garaus has served as a reviewer for journals including IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Product Innovation Management, and Psychology & Marketing. He was a guest editor for Journal of Cleaner Production and has participated in organizing international workshops on the sharing economy. He supervises master’s theses and contributes to public knowledge transfer through media and policy reports.

Labs and Teams: He is involved in collaborative research teams at BOKU, including the BOKU x WWF cooperation on sustainable land use and food systems, and the CERN collaboration on repurposing excavated materials. His work often involves interdisciplinary teams bridging business, environmental science, and technology.
