Christian G. Appy is a Professor of History at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His work focuses on the Vietnam War, U.S. foreign policy, nuclear weapons, and 20th/21st-century American history. He has authored seminal books, including American Reckoning and Patriots, and is currently researching Daniel Ellsberg’s role in anti-war activism and nuclear policy. Appy holds a BA and PhD in American Studies from Amherst College and Harvard University, respectively.
His research explores the Vietnam War’s cultural and political legacy, U.S. imperialist tendencies, and nuclear-age anxieties. Courses taught include The American War in Vietnam and The Nuclear Age.
