Christian Danvad Damsgaard is an Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), affiliated with the Department of Physics and the National Centre for Nano Fabrication and Characterization. His research focuses on unraveling structure-activity relationships in catalysts using advanced techniques such as in situ/operando X-ray and electron microscopy. Key areas include catalytic processes for CO2 hydrogenation, nanoparticle electrochemistry, and high-temperature solid-state electrochemical studies. He leads the Catalysis and Operando Characterization group and contributes to the VISION – Center for Visualizing Catalytic Processes.
His work emphasizes real-time imaging of catalytic systems to understand reaction mechanisms and deactivation pathways. Notable contributions include developing high-pressure microreactors for catalyst evaluation and pioneering atomic-resolution imaging of nanomaterials. He actively supervises PhD students, with ongoing projects exploring nanoparticle dynamics, electrochemical TEM, and intermetallic catalysts.
Dr. Damsgaard collaborates internationally, delivering guest lectures at institutions like the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. His research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly addressing clean energy and climate action through catalyst innovation. He is currently accepting PhD students to further explore atomic-scale catalytic processes.
