Christian Coseru holds the position of Numata Visiting Professor in Buddhist Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley's Institute of East Asian Studies for Spring 2025. He is concurrently a Professor of Philosophy at the College of Charleston. His academic work bridges philosophy of mind, cross-cultural philosophy, and Buddhist thought, engaging both Indian and Western philosophical traditions alongside cognitive science. He earned a licence and maîtrise in philosophy from the University of Bucharest and a Ph.D. from the Australian National University.
Prof. Coseru’s research focuses on consciousness, intentionality, and cognition within Buddhist philosophy, as well as dialogues between Buddhist and Western philosophical frameworks. His notable works include Perceiving Reality (Oxford University Press, 2012) and the edited volume Reasons and Empty Persons (Springer, 2023). These publications reflect his commitment to interdisciplinary exploration of mind and metaphysics.
