Dr. Christian W. Bach is an Associate Professor in Economics at the University of Reading, part of the School of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He leads the Economic Theory Cluster and teaches courses on Game Theory, Microeconomic Theory, and Epistemic Game Theory. His research focuses on Epistemic Game Theory, Game Theory fundamentals, Decision Theory, and Cryptoeconomics. He holds dual PhDs in Economics (Maastricht University, 2010) and Information Systems (HEC Lausanne, 2010), along with advanced degrees in Philosophy of Science (LSE, 2005) and Economics (University of St. Gallen, 2004).
Bach’s work bridges theoretical economics with practical applications, including blockchain technology’s impact on postal services and cryptocurrency economics. His research has appeared in journals like Journal of Mathematical Economics and Economic Inquiry. He is affiliated with EPICENTER (Maastricht University), the LSE Choice Group, and cryptecon. His current projects explore incomplete information equilibria and platform pricing strategies.
Teaching responsibilities include courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, with materials covering static/dynamic games, epistemic conditions for equilibria, and decision theory.
