Christelle Wauthier is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geosciences at The Pennsylvania State University and serves as the Associate Director of the Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS). Her research focuses on natural hazards, utilizing remote-sensing and geophysical techniques such as InSAR to study volcanic systems and crustal deformation.
She investigates magma-tectonic interactions in geodynamically diverse regions, including the East African continental rift, Central America subduction arc, and Hawaiian hot spot. By modeling subsurface dynamics and stress changes, she aims to understand magma transport pathways and earthquake hazards. Her work emphasizes societal impact through hazard assessment and mitigation.
