Christelle Routelous is a Lecturer and researcher at the French School of Public Health (EHESP), where she has been working since June 2006. She is affiliated with the Institute of Management (IdM) and the Research team on health services and management (ARENES, UMR 6051 and INSERM 1309). Her work focuses on organizational theory and behavior within healthcare systems, particularly examining management practices in hospitals and elderly care facilities.
Dr. Routelous earned her Doctorate in socio-economics of innovation from Ecole des Mines Paris Tech in 2008, with a thesis titled "Health democracy put to the test by medical practices: Sociology of a participatory model in medicine," supervised by M. Akrich (Mines) and N. Dodier (EHESS). She received qualification for the position of lecturer from CNU section 19 in 2011.
Her research interests span strategic management and human resources management in public healthcare settings, public management, and organizational behavior theories. She has extensively studied coordination mechanisms in healthcare, quality of life at work in nursing homes (EHPADs), hospital management, and the integration of medical and social care services. Analysis of her publications reveals consistent focus on workplace conditions in healthcare settings, particularly examining job crafting strategies during the pandemic, salutogenic management approaches to reduce workplace hardship in nursing homes, and the role of practice communities in improving quality of work life. She has also contributed significantly to understanding healthcare coordination models and the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship programs in French hospitals.
Dr. Routelous was awarded the "Prix de la meilleure communication thématique" (best thematic communication award) on June 17, 2022, for her work on job crafting strategies among healthcare workers during the Covid crisis.
She actively supervises student work and participates annually in juries for the appointment of directors of public health and medico-social establishments. Her research has been supported by numerous grants including DIREES funding for multiple projects examining 4-day work experiments, workplace time reconciliation strategies, and quality of life at work in EHPADs. She has also secured funding from the National Solidarity Fund for Autonomy (CNSA), European Partnership Transforming Health and Care Systems (THCS), and other national and European sources.
Dr. Routelous collaborates with several research teams including the ARENES research unit (UMR 6051) and INSERM 1309. She works closely with researchers from IAE Rennes, Rennes 2 University, and international partners from UQAM in Montreal. Her current projects include MUSICALISE (focusing on care integration for multiple sclerosis patients) and SPACE (examining nomadic managers and teleworkers in third places).
