Chris Thomson is a permanent half-time lecturer in Criminology at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Arts. He has extensive frontline and training experience across governmental and non-governmental criminal-justice agencies and previously taught at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (NYC) and the Justice Institute of B.C.
Education:

Research & Teaching Focus:
Chris’s work spans all facets of criminology with particular emphasis on sentencing, penal reform, and correctional practice. He teaches introductory criminology, criminal-justice systems, and specialized courses in institutional and community corrections as well as restorative justice.
He is an active member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers and the B.C. Criminal Justice Association, reflecting his ongoing engagement with evidence-based offender intervention and policy development.
