Dr. Chris Skousen is the Department Head of the School of Accountancy and holds the Ernst & Young Endowed Professorship at Utah State University's Eccles Business School. He earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from Oklahoma State University (2004), an MBA (1998), and a BA (1997) from Utah State University. His research focuses on forensic accounting, fraud detection, corporate governance, and sustainability, with publications in journals like Accounting Horizons and Journal of Forensic Accounting Research. He has taught courses such as Advanced Financial Accounting and Financial Accounting Principles. Dr. Skousen has also worked at KPMG and Squire & Co., and contributed to textbooks on managerial accounting and cost analysis.
Education highlights include a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State, followed by professional experience in public accounting. His research explores behavioral whistleblowing, CEO power dynamics, and the impact of strategic cost policies on sustainability. He received the 2023 Dean's Award for Excellence & Impact. His teaching spans undergraduate and graduate levels, emphasizing practical financial and managerial accounting principles.
Key publications analyze fraud prevention mechanisms, discontinued operations, and ESG integration.
