He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Tennessee State University, an M.S. in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Memphis. His research focuses on enhancing secure software development standards, knowledge management systems for cyber-attack response, and promoting technology access in underprivileged communities and developing nations.
Before academia, Simmons worked as a Software Engineer and Sr. Programmer Analyst at companies like Boeing and FedEx. His scholarly contributions have been published in journals such as the Journal of Computing Sciences in Colleges and Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education. He is committed to advancing cybersecurity practices while addressing global digital divide challenges.
