Chris Saladin is an Assistant Professor of History specializing in the ancient Mediterranean world at Rowan University's College of Humanities & Social Sciences. His research examines imperialism, memory, and cultural identity in Roman North Africa with particular focus on Carthage.
His current book project investigates how Carthage's urban landscape was reshaped following Roman colonization, analyzing how residents negotiated identities within imperial frameworks. The research combines archaeological evidence with historical analysis.
Professor Saladin teaches courses on premodern Western history, ancient Rome, and historical methods. He collaborates with Rowan's Center for Digital Humanities Research on the Digital Roman Carthage project, employing GIS technology to reconstruct ancient urban environments.
