Chris Rayner

Professor Chris Rayner is a Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Leeds' School of Chemistry. He joined the university in 1989 and has expertise in carbon dioxide chemistry, CCS, biogas upgrading, natural product utilization, and sustainable dye technologies. He leads the spin-out companies C-Capture Ltd and Keracol Ltd, commercializing his research. His academic background includes a BSc and PhD from the University of Liverpool and postdoctoral work with Prof. Leo Paquette at Ohio State University.

He also emphasizes chemical process scalability through partnerships with engineers and the Institute of Process Research and Development.

Teaching interests include organic chemistry reactivity/synthesis and sustainability education, particularly climate change mitigation strategies.
