Chris Owen is a Senior Lecturer at Aston University's Aston Business School, part of the College of Business and Social Sciences. He is affiliated with the Advanced Services Group and specializes in Operations and Service Management. Previously, he served as a Senior Consultant at PwC Consulting, focusing on Operations Competency across sectors like Banking and Aerospace. His research interests include Advanced Services (Servitization), Management Consulting, Modelling and Simulation, and Supply Chain Management.
Chris holds a BEng in Manufacturing Engineering from Brunel University (1992), followed by an MBA (2000), DBA (2013), and MEd (2019) from Aston University. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and a member of the British Academy of Management (BAM). His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Management Consultancy, including modules for MSc Business Analytics programs.
His research explores academic consulting's role in organizational development, simulation modeling of human behavior, and supply chain education. Recent work addresses inclusivity in student onboarding and doctoral program impacts. He actively supervises PhD students and advocates for gamified learning in professional development.
Notable contributions include studies on customer service gamification, knowledge creation in consulting, and barriers in supply chain education. He collaborates with industry on operational efficiency projects and advises on postgraduate program design.
