معرفی
Chris Mouron serves as Professor and Chair of the Mathematics and Statistics Department at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. With 17 years of collegiate teaching experience across five states, he specializes in topology and dynamical systems research while employing adaptive pedagogical approaches ranging from Moore Method in theoretical courses to project-based learning in applied mathematics.
His educational background includes:
- B.S. from Lafayette College
- M.S. and Ph.D. from Texas Tech University
Mouron's research explores the intersection of topological spaces and chaotic dynamics, focusing on expansive homeomorphisms and entropy in continua like the pseudo-arc and solenoid. He investigates how topological structure governs chaotic behavior, aiming to classify spaces admitting specific dynamical properties through rigorous mathematical frameworks that reveal underlying order within apparent disorder.
Outside academia, he is a former rugby captain and coach at Lafayette College who founded their women's rugby program. Currently residing in Midtown Memphis with his cat Simon, he enjoys disc golf and maintains a teaching philosophy emphasizing student-driven discovery through calculated frustration in mathematical problem-solving.
