Royal Holloway, University of Londonمعرفی
Chris Lusher is a Researcher in the Department of Physics at Royal Holloway, University of London. His research focuses on applying DC SQUIDs to Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Noise Thermometry, with collaborations at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and the Millikelvin Laboratory. He teaches courses on Electromagnetism and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, and coordinates experimental projects for students. His work includes fundamental physics experiments on 3He in Zeolite MCM-41 and applications in low-field SQUID MRI.
Education: B.A. in Natural Sciences (Physical) from the University of Cambridge (1981), D.Phil. in Low Temperature Physics from the University of Sussex (1985). Joined Royal Holloway as a postdoc in 1988, becoming academic staff in 1995.
Research Interests: Explores SQUID-based NMR/MRI for weak magnetic responses, noise thermometry development, and quantum phase transitions. Collaborates internationally on projects like the EU-funded Biodiagnostics initiative.
Key Projects: Led the EPSRC-funded 'Quantum Phase Transitions and Quantum Criticality in Helium Films' (2010–2013). Published 35+ research outputs, including advancements in millikelvin thermometry and nanofluidic NMR detection.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Millikelvin Laboratory and Cryosensors collaborations. Supervises project students and contributes to first-year laboratory demonstrations.
