Chris Lee is a Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences at Monash University, where he coordinates and lectures in courses like BIO3091 (Biology of Australian Vegetation), BIO3820 (Tropical Terrestrial Biology), and ENV2022 (Environmental Sampling). He also contributes to research projects as a Chief Investigator, including the active initiative 'Developing climate resilient grassland restoration strategies (2023–2027)' led by Dr. K. Hodgins.
Chris holds a PhD in Botany (University of British Columbia, 2015) focusing on Phylogeny and Niche Modeling of Rocky Mountain Daisies, and a BSc in Plant Biology from the same university (2008). His research spans genomic studies of plant adaptation, ecological modeling using GIS, and molecular dating of phylogenetic trees. He specializes in flora and ecology of southeast Australia, the Pacific Northwest, and Rocky Mountain regions in North America, with a focus on native species conservation and invasive weed dynamics.
His work addresses how ecological, genetic, and climatic factors influence plant success. Recent collaborations span global networks, including projects highlighted on Wikipedia and shared widely on platforms like Mendeley and Twitter. While no formal advisees are listed, his teaching and research roles reflect strong mentorship in tertiary education and fieldwork.
