Dr. Chris Kennedy is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Victoria, part of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. His expertise spans biophysical economics, deep decarbonisation, sustainable cities, and industrial ecology. He holds credentials including MASc, PhD, and P.Eng qualifications.
His research focuses on strategies for global climate change mitigation through biophysical analysis of economies, urban metabolism studies, and low-carbon infrastructure planning. Notable projects include developing methodologies for city-wide greenhouse gas inventories and advising national governments and institutions like the World Bank. He has also served as a visiting professor at Oxford University and ETH Zürich, and as President of the International Society for Industrial Ecology.
