Prof. Chris Ka-Pun MOK is an Assistant Professor at the JC School of Public Health and Primary Care, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He holds an honorary position as Assistant Professor at the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole. His research focuses on understanding the interplay between host adaptive immunity and viral determinants of respiratory viruses like influenza and coronaviruses through clinical, virological, and structural approaches.
Education: BSc (Chemistry) from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), MPhil and PhD from The University of Hong Kong (HKU).
Research interests include pathogenicity of zoonotic viruses, viral immunology in respiratory diseases, and developing prophylactic/treatment options for respiratory infections. He has contributed to high-impact studies on SARS-CoV-2 variants, vaccine efficacy, and cross-reactive antibody responses.
Notable awards include recognition as one of the Best papers in Cell Reports (2020) and selection by C&EN’s Year in Chemistry 2020 for groundbreaking work on SARS-CoV-2 epitopes.
Prof. MOK is actively involved in outbreak investigations through the Institute Pasteur International Network and serves as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Immunology and Virology Journal.
