Chris Evans is a Professor of History at the University of South Wales, affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Creative Industries. He holds a BA from University College London and a PhD from the University of London. His research focuses on abolitionism, Atlantic slavery, the industrial revolution, and environmental history, with notable works like Slave Wales and Swansea Copper: A Global History. He has received prestigious awards including the Douglass Adair Memorial Award and the Abbot Payson Usher Prize.
Evans has spoken at international conferences and contributed to public discourse on slavery’s legacy, including media engagements like Monumental Change: The Statue Debate. He previously worked at the University of Newcastle and the Historical Manuscripts Commission.
