Chris Doude van Troostwijk is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His research focuses on intersections of theology, post-modern philosophy, and existential ethics, particularly exploring concepts like 'the reverence for life,' ipseistic ethics, and theo-political theory. He has contributed to interdisciplinary dialogues merging theology with poetics and political thought. His work often critiques moralistic frameworks and explores spiritual dimensions beyond traditional dogmatics.
He leads the ARS BENE CREDENDI research project (2018–2024), investigating inventive theological methodologies. He supervises doctoral research and teaches courses such as 'Vrijzinnige Theologie.' Recent publications include analyses of Carl Schmitt’s theo-political hyphen and explorations of anatheistic wager concepts.
