Chris Davies is a Professor and Associate Dean of Research at the Utah State University College of Veterinary Medicine. With a PhD in Immunology from Cornell University (1988) and a DVM (1983), his work bridges immunogenetics, reproductive immunology, and transgenic animal models.
- Education: PhD (Immunology, Cornell), DVM (Veterinary Medicine, Cornell), BS (Biology, Cornell).
Research spans Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) in bovine and small ruminant models, focusing on immune-mediated pregnancy complications, transgenic goats for cardiac fibrosis/atrial fibrillation, and vaccine development for zoonotic pathogens. His publications since 2000 emphasize MHC dynamics, reproductive immunology, and infectious disease models.
Recent scientific trends highlight cross-species MHC studies (sheep, goats, cattle), TGF-β1 in cardiac pathology, and innovative vaccine strategies for Mycobacterium avium and flaviviruses. Awards include leadership roles in national associations and recognition for teaching and research excellence.
- Notable scientific honors:
- Elected Chair, Western Association of Experiment Station Directors (2020)
- Beyond the Call of Duty Award (2016)
- CPD Faculty Fellow (2011)
- Dr. Raymond O. Berry Memorial Lecturer (2009)
Mentored graduate students Bi Shi (2009-2014) and Parveen Parasar (2007-2013), with teaching contributions in Animal Cell Culture Methods, Emerging Diseases, and Veterinary Immunology since 2001.
