Dr. Chris Albertyn is a Researcher at King's College London, based in the Department of Old Age Psychiatry within the School of Academic Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). He completed his PhD in 2025 at the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing, investigating medical cannabis for dementia-related behavioral symptoms. His academic background includes an MSc in Psychological Research Methods (University of Exeter) and a BSc in Psychology (University of Bath).
His roles include Research Portfolio Lead, focusing on collaborative grant applications with academic and industry partners, particularly in psychopharmacology, AI/data science, and open science applied to aging and dementia. As ARK Innovation Advisor, he leads multidisciplinary projects on cannabinoid therapies and AI for healthy aging. He previously served on the IoPPN Research & Innovation Committee, emphasizing translational impact and open science.
Research interests center on clinical trial innovation, dementia methodologies, AI-driven healthcare solutions, and reproducible scientific practices. He actively supports initiatives like the Reproducibility Network (UKRN) and chairs the KORGI committee promoting transparent research. His work spans biomarker development for neurocognitive disorders, decentralized data systems, and early dementia diagnosis strategies.
Key collaborations include the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing and Ageing Research at King’s (ARK). He has organized events on topics like neurotechnologies and distributed health data ecosystems.
