Chow Yiu Fai

Chow Yiu Fai is a Professor at the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing, Hong Kong Baptist University. He earned his PhD from the Amsterdam School of Communication Research at the University of Amsterdam. His research spans gender and sexuality, creative practices, and cultural studies, with notable publications including monographs like Caring in Times of Precarity and Sonic Multiplicities.

Research interests focus on:

• Sociocultural analysis of creative labor
• Gender dynamics in urban contexts
• Popular music and global cultural flows
• Interdisciplinary creative methodologies

Chow is also an accomplished creative professional, having written over 1,000 lyrics for pop artists across Greater China. His prose work A Long, Long Farewell received the Hong Kong Literary Awards Recommendation Prize. He is currently expanding into multimedia and visual art projects.
