Chong Chon-Smith is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY), and an affiliated faculty member in the Department of Asian Studies. His academic work bridges disciplines such as Asian American Studies, American Studies, and Cultural Studies.
Research Interests:
- 20th/21st Century American literature & social movements
- Comparative racialization and cultural production
- Structured militarization & narratives of healing
Selected Publication: His monograph, East Meets Black: Asian and Black Masculinities in the Post-Civil Rights Era (University Press of Mississippi, 2015), explores interdisciplinary intersections of race and masculinity through Afro-Asian relations in literature and popular culture.
