Choman Salih

Dr. Choman Salih is a Researcher and Research Facility Manager at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Engineering and Space Sciences (IAESS), Centre for Future Materials (CFM), and other research groups. He holds a BSc from Sulaimani, an MEngSc and PhD from USQ, and is an accredited Kurdish translator. His research focuses on civil engineering structures, composite materials, railway sleepers, and structural health monitoring. He currently teaches CIV3506 Concrete Structures.

Dr. Salih’s expertise includes polymer composite railway sleepers, structural testing, and materials engineering. His work spans advanced composite manufacturing, mechanical testing, and fatigue analysis of materials. He has collaborated on projects involving GFRP-reinforced concrete, crumb rubber-modified polymers, and novel testing methodologies for railway infrastructure components.

Professional memberships include Composites Australia, Engineers Australia, and the Railway Technical Society of Australasia (RTSA). His research has been published widely in materials science and civil engineering journals, with a focus on railway engineering applications and material performance under dynamic loads.
