Chloe Irla serves as Associate Professor of Art and Assistant Dean of Faculty Development at McDaniel College, where she actively shapes academic programs while maintaining her artistic practice. An alumna of the institution (Class of 2007), she bridges administrative leadership with creative scholarship through community-engaged projects.
Education:
- 2010: M.F.A. and Certificate in the College Teaching of Art, Maryland Institute College of Art
- 2008: Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, Maryland Institute College of Art
- 2007: B.A., McDaniel College
Her research interrogates spatial relationships through digital design theory, fiber/material studies, and data visualization, consistently prioritizing community engagement. This manifests in exhibitions across twelve U.S. states, Sofia Bulgaria, and initiatives like the Grain of Rice Gallery that dissolve boundaries between campus and public spaces.
Irla mentors students through the Men's Lacrosse Team, Art Club, Magician's Club, and Phi Alpha Mu, with testimonials highlighting transformative impacts on artistic development. Her administrative role in faculty development complements teaching in New Media Art (ART 3319), Art and Digital Culture (ART 2207), and Digital Imaging (ART 2206).
She previously directed high-stakes creative projects as Operations Manager at Charm City Cakes for clients including the NBA, U.S. Navy, and Hilton Worldwide, demonstrating industry-academia synergy. Current service includes the McDaniel & Main Committee and community art initiatives.
