Chikako Mori is a Senior Lecturer of Japanese at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte), where she has served since 2004. She currently holds roles as coordinator (since Fall 2015) and designated student advisor for the Japanese Studies program (since Spring 2017). Her academic journey includes a B.A. in International Relations from Chubu University (1998), an M.Ed. in Cultural Studies from Ohio University (2004), and an Ed.D. in Learning, Design and Technology from UNC Charlotte (2025).
Her research focuses on Pedagogy, Student Engagement, Instructional Technology, and Project-Based Learning. She teaches Japanese language courses at all levels and emphasizes fostering self-directed learning through technology integration. Notable publications include studies on COIL activities, Skype-based language partnerships, and video-mediated communication in language education.
Mori is affiliated with organizations such as ACTFL, AATJ, and FLANC. Her professional contributions include presentations on project-based learning, peer support in language education, and the effectiveness of technology-enhanced language instruction at regional and international conferences.
